- Transfer bonuses with no seats behind them. The bonus percentage is real. The award space is the part nobody checks. Transfers are irreversible, so this is the expensive mistake.
- Buy-points promos where the fees erase the win. Especially on carriers with high surcharges — the miles get cheap and the ticket doesn't.
- Deals that work for one traveler and collapse at four. Two saver seats is a great weekend. It is not a family trip.
- Devaluations dressed up as enhancements. When a program announces a "more flexible" award chart, the chart usually got more expensive.
